A magical place nestled above the sacred Ayung River Gorge, Green Village is a master-planned community of spectacular, luxurious bamboo homes. It is an innovative expression of the increasing global “green” ideology, utilizing bamboo—one of the world’s fastest-growing, sustainable building materials—in ways never seen before. Pre-treated with a natural boron solution, bamboo becomes a viable building material impervious to insect infestation.
No two structures are the same. They are built onto the natural topography of the site incorporating a point-foundation method that minimizes land disturbance, and retains existing contours. Each house takes full advantage of its site-specific characteristics including air-flow, view corridors, and exposure to the sun.
The beauty, flexibility and strength of bamboo have been recognized for centuries, not only as a construction material but also in applications as diverse as furniture and decorative objects. Where we are. Green Village is located across the sacred Ayung River from the village of Sibang Gede, in the district of Abiansemal. We are about 25 minutes by car from both the art centre town of Ubud and the beautiful white sand beaches of Sanur. Ngurah Rai International Airport is 1.5 hours away.
Warung and Shared Areas
Our own small restaurant. Feel like a cool fruit smoothie, or an Indonesian meal? A three-minute walk away, the Green Village warung (restaurant), in front of the office, offers Indonesian and international cuisine either in the poolside pavilion, or delivered to Ananda House. See menu for details of selection. The warung can also supply you with basics such as beer, milk and soft drinks.

Common-area swimming pool. Adjacent to the warung, open during daylight hours. There is no supervision at the pool.
